Inspired by 200+ Active Learning Strategies by James A. Bellanca
Play some nature-based music (we recommend trying some of George Winston’s Seasons based piano solos from the early 1980s on YouTube). Have your child pretend to be either the forces of nature (e.g. wind, storm, rain) or the animals that they think would be in the scene based on the title and musical score. How do your child’s movements differ from piece to piece? What do they hear in the music that makes your child spin vs. run vs. tiptoe vs. stomp?
Extra Credit: Now turn the music OFF. Go outside for inspiration and shout out different forces of nature or animals for your child to act out.
