Encourage your child’s “blossoming” love of nature by introducing the art of Xeriscaping. Have him/her help you identify new plants that you can use to beautify your outdoor surroundings…that can thrive without additional irrigation. If they don’t know about it already, talk about the importance of conserving water in light of the world’s looming water crisis. Then try out a few of their plant suggestions in your yard.

Extra Credit: Take it to the streets! Have your child offer suggestions to local influencers of ways to incorporate xeriscaping principles into local school yards, parks, business parks, etc.
